POLYAMORY DAY

POLYAMORY DAY 2021

27TH NOVEMBER

10.00-10.45 :

History, Patriarchy and Polyamory BY DR. Tamas David-Barrett

To kick off the showcase, Dr David-Barrett will be unpacking: what drove humanity towards patriarchy? why did this produce monogamy? and how polyamory changes the game?

Tamas David-Barrett is a behavioural scientist, who asks what traits allow humans to live in large and culturally complex societies. His work focuses on how the structure of social networks change during falling fertility, urbanisation, and migration; as well as, how social networks vary over the human life-course. Tamas is a lecturer Trinity College, University of Oxford, and affiliated with the Population Studies Research Institute in Helsinki, Finland. He is a fellow with the Royal Anthropological Institute, the host of the State of the Species lecture and is currently working on a new book: How to Think Scientifically.
